What is this about?
Psychotherapy is an information-intensive process. Symptoms, life history, burdens, resources and therapy goals emerge in conversation – indirectly, in fragments, and spread across many sessions. Capturing, classifying and documenting them takes time that is scarcely reflected in everyday care.
We are investigating whether an AI-assisted support system can reliably recognise therapeutically relevant conversation content and structure it in an understandable way. The basis is the dimensional HiTOP model (Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology). The long-term goal is a dashboard that gives clinicians an up-to-date, verifiable overview for diagnostics, treatment planning, documentation and quality assurance – without automating therapeutic decisions.
For this we need real conversation data from everyday care. And for that we need you.
Who are we looking for?
Self-employed psychotherapists and physicians with psychotherapeutic qualifications, as well as outpatient and inpatient treatment facilities conducting individual psychotherapy.
Participating clinicians decide themselves which of their patients they inform about the study. Requirements on the patient side: at least 18 years old, ongoing individual therapy, capacity to consent.
What does participation involve?
Participation consists of four steps:
- 1
Short introduction
You will receive an introduction to the web-based study application (approx. 30 minutes). No own recording devices are required.
- 2
Audio recording of sessions
Individual sessions with consenting patients are recorded as audio – no video or image recordings. The therapeutic process itself remains unchanged; there is no live analysis.
- 3
Questionnaire and diagnosis
At the beginning and then every 15 sessions, patients complete the HiTOP-BR (45 items, approx. 5 minutes). At the same time, you update the current ICD-10 diagnosis in the application. Optionally, patients can also complete the comprehensive HiTOP-SR.
- 4
Duration
A maximum of 60 sessions or 12 months per patient. Participation can be ended at any time without giving reasons.
What do you get out of it?
Your benefits at a glance:
HiTOP profiles of your patients
On request, you will receive the results of the HiTOP questionnaires as dimensional feedback for your diagnostics and progress assessment.
Early access
Our study newsletter keeps you up to date on the development status of the procedure.
Co-creation
You contribute to creating a tool developed from practice for practice – and one that works equally reliably for different patient groups.
No monetary compensation is provided.
Data protection & confidentiality
We know what is at stake. In brief:
- •All data remains in Germany – stored encrypted and accessible only to authorised persons in the research team.
- •Recordings leave the practice device immediately: after upload, the file is automatically deleted locally.
- •Anyone who sees the data is bound to confidentiality. With their consent, patients release you from confidentiality towards the research team – only to the extent necessary for the study.
- •No disclosure to third parties.
- •Deletable at any time: on request, all data of a person will be removed immediately. Everything will be deleted after 10 years at the latest.
Clinical responsibility remains fully with you at all times. Details can be found in the study information, which you will receive with the documents.
Scientific framework
The study is conducted by dimetriq in cooperation with the Applied Psychology programme at Ravensburg-Weingarten University. Scientific lead: Prof. Dr. Anna-Sophia Schwind (RWU).
The study was reviewed and positively evaluated by the Ethics Committee of the Pädagogische Hochschule Weingarten.
Transparency notice: The results may flow into later commercial exploitation by dimetriq. Whether and in what form is open at this time.
Interested?
Register without obligation. We will get back to you with all documents (study information, consent forms, access to the application) and answer your questions – also in a short conversation.
For clinics: We support you in coordinating with your data protection officer and ethics committee and provide all documents (DPIA summary, DPA, study protocol).
